To whom it may concern:
What the HELL is going on with all the wannabes these days?? I realize this has been going on for years now. I was in High School not too long ago and the desire of white people to be any other race or creed aside from their own was rampant then as well. Obviously, the most common wannabe is the W2B wannabe. That stands for "white 2 black." Now, the biggest thing that I don't understand about this whole phenomena is why black people don't look these people in the face and say something to the effect of, "uh, 'scuse me white boy?? Who the HELL you think yu foolin?!" Seriously, in all my years, I have never even seen anything even remotely like this. For the most part, it seems like black people accept these lame kind of people as... embarassing half-relations or something. Which some people might think of as good but um, hello? Why are they even getting that much "recognition" or respect? I guess my main reason for wanting black people to say or do something about this kind of behavior is because I think they are the only people who can actually STOP this stupid sh*%. The people who I used to go to HS with (the wannabe's that is) genuinely thought they had the "whole act down." They thought they were "in tight" with all the coolest "G's". I don't know what they were actually thinking when the black people couldn't help but laugh at their attempts at dancing or rapping but they obviously came up with some creative way of deluding themselves into thinking that they were "participating in something that was funny" as opposed to BEING LAUGHED AT! Which of course is why WHITE people can't really say anything. I never actually thought of a... concise, polite way of saying, YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT!!! But it really doesn't matter, anything you could of thought to say to them would have been met with some sort of really thought out response like, "yo dog, why you gotta hate? why you gotta playa hate?" In the three years that I attended this particular HS I never saw any of the "wannabes" gradually fade into some sort of "behavior" or "identity" that was a LITTLE bit more authentic. They were gonna be "big-ballin G's till they die."
And as far as other "racial wannabes" are concerned, did you know there are now "Asian wannabes?" Granted, they are still centered around the "Asian gang member" identity, but still! I knew a guy who wanted to be a Hispanic gang member SO BAD that he took to hounding these particular guys who didn't even live in his neighborhood. I don't really think he ever joined their gang but at one point he supposedly got some sort of "gang name." And ok, I'm sorry, I can't help but wonder if they gave him this name as some sort of joke. Just in case you were wondering, this guy was a blonde haired, blue eyed, fair skinned, braces wearing dork! And what name did they give him? El Sapo. Supposedly this means, "the frog." What the hell does that mean? Does the frog have some sort of repect amongst gangs that I dont' know about? I think not! The REALLY sad part is that this particular guy wore this name as a badge of honor. He loved it. He would write it all over places. I can't help but wonder if these Hispanic guys who came up with the name sat around one day and said, "hey, let's see whats the stupidest name we can convince him is cool. Hey, how bout el sapo?! White boy'll think he's really cool or something. HA! yeah, thats it, we'll call him el sapo."
Now, here is one racial wannabe that most people have probably never heard of. Did you know that there are "white, anglo-saxon, protestant" people who want more than anything else in the ENTIRE WORLD... to be Jewish. Now look, there is nothing wrong with people being whoever they are. If you are born AFRICAN-AMERICAN, Hispanic, Jewish, Asian, etc, etc. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! And I am being serious, everbody has gotta be what they gotta be. But to try and just change your manner of dress, manner of speech and actually believe that you can BE some other different identity?? That is taking self-delusion to a whole new level.
Am I just being petty? Should I just let silly white people "do their thang?"
