"Reading Lists" Taboo??

Just for the record, reading books off of a "list" is not somehow inferior to "reading the books that you randomly come across in your day-to-day life." The former does not imply a deficiency of original/independent thought and the latter also does not imply some kind of superior sense of "mental/intellectual independence."
